Glossary
Explanatory glossary of terms used on NR1WEB.
Domain Name
A domain name is the unique address that people use to find your website on the internet. It is similar to the address of your physical store or office, but in the digital world. When someone types your domain name into a web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox), they are taken directly to your website.
A domain name consists of two main parts:
- The name itself (for example, "nr1web")
- The extension (for example, ".com", ".nl", or ".be")
These two elements together form your full domain name (such as nr1web.com).
Why is a domain name important?
Your domain name is much more than just a technical necessity - it is a fundamental part of your brand identity. A well-chosen domain name:
- Creates the first impression of your business in the online world
- Communicates directly what you do or what your business represents
- Makes you discoverable for potential customers
- Builds credibility and trust
- Supports your marketing efforts by being easy to remember
- Can improve your search engine ranking if it contains relevant keywords
What makes a domain name "premium"?
In the context of our Blue Ocean Brand philosophy, a premium domain name refers to a web address that is particularly valuable due to specific characteristics:
- Short and powerful: easy to type and remember (such as LED.nl)
- Descriptive: clearly indicates what your business or product stands for
- Distinctive: sounds professional and unique
- Highly searched keywords: contains terms that potential customers use when searching
- Exclusive: not easily confused with other domains
- Appropriate extension: has a suitable domain extension for your target market (.nl for the Netherlands, .be for Belgium)
TLD - Top-Level Domain
The top-level domain (TLD) is the last segment of a domain name, after the dot. Examples: .com, .org, .net, or country-specific extensions such as .nl (Netherlands), .be (Belgium), or .eu (European Union). The choice of TLD partly determines your target market, trust positioning, and SEO context.
